Sitting at Packer teammate Fred "Fuzzy" Thurston's bar, Shenanigans, my father is swamped by autograph seekers when he returns to Green Bay. He kicked three field goals and scored 10 points in a 16-7 victory over the New York Giants in the 1962 NFL title game. He made the touchdown block in championship games for the decisive score in the mud at Lambeau Field against the Cleveland Browns and again in the sub-zero elements against the Dallas Cowboys in 1967; the latter play is regarded as one of the most famous plays in football history. He was a 5-time All Pro, named to three Pro Bowls and in 1969, he was named by a special Hall of Fame committee as the best guard in the first 50 years of pro football. Although, he has the dubious distinction of being the only member of the NFL's 16-player All 50-Year Team not to have a bronze bust in Canton. He was also selected to John Madden's All Super Bowl Team comprised of the best players from the first 25 Super Bowls.
